Commercial structure fire damages stores in Kent-Kangley area

Firefighters in the Kent-Kangley area extinguished a commercial fire that broke out in a store and an adjacent smoke shop early Sunday morning.
The smoke and flames flared up at the Al Rayahin bakery and grocery store and the Star Vape Smoke Shop near 104th Street and Kent-Kangley Road.
The businesses are surrounded by a locked chain-link fence at night, causing crews with to use circular saws to cut through the fence in order to reach the flames.

Once inside, they worked to extinguish the flames and search for hot spots.
Firefighters had to open up an exterior wall to reach the flames.

The fire was smoldering inside the wall. Crews put the flames out after about 45 minutes.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
