The impact of a crash that killed a 65-year-old man on southbound I-5 in Lakewood on Wednesday morning was so severe that debris was thrown into the opposite lanes.
West Pierce Fire & Rescue attempted to save the driver of a pickup with CPR, after it collided with a semi-truck near around 6:45 a.m. the 65-year-old driver may have been having a medical emergency.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he died, the Tribune reports.
The two left lanes of southbound I-5 remained blocked until around 10:30 a.m. The right lane of northbound I-5 was blocked, but reopened around 7:20 a.m. when crews cleared debris from the road.
There will be an “extended investigation,” Washington State Trooper Guy Gill said. He advises drivers find an alternate route.
Traffic backed up by more than five miiles, according to 成人X站 Radio traffic reporter Chris Sullivan.
