Man arrested for alleged hate crime at LGBTQ+ nightclub in Seattle

A 23-year-old man is in custody after the Seattle Police Department (SPD) said he carried out a hate-fueled attack early Sunday in Seattle鈥檚 Capitol Hill neighborhood.
Authorities reported the incident began around 1 a.m. when the suspect attempted to force his way into an LGBTQ+ nightclub, shouting slurs and instigating fights. Police said he choked a person, causing serious injuries, before fleeing the scene.
鈥淗e ran to the 1500 block of Minor Avenue and tried to get into another nightclub when officers caught up to him and arrested him,鈥 SPD said in a .
One officer was injured during the arrest and was treated at Harborview Medical Center.
The suspect is being held in the King County Jail and is under investigation for felony assault and a hate crime.
